Victor Center Acknowledges Rare Disease Day

On Tuesday, February 28th, 2017, the Einstein Victor Center will be participating in Rare Disease Day. Rare Disease Day is an international effort to bring awareness to diseases which affect small percentage of the population. According to, this is defined in the United States as diseases which affect less than 200,000 individuals nationwide. The conditions that meet this criteria number in the thousands, and nearly 50% of them affect children.

Numerous diseases for which the Victor Center screens fall into this category. As Rare Disease Day approaches, we will be spotlighting specific Jewish genetic diseases to help educate and raise awareness.
